The name of the woman who was gunned down on Tuesday in a student residence in Vanderbijlpark has been revealed as 21-year-old Jabulile Nhlapo.
Nhlapo is said to have been a Unisa student. Gauteng police spokesman Kay Makhubele said the killing of women was a serious concern to police. “In most cases when two people are in a relationship and the relationship turns sour, this type of incident happens.”
A man was arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder of a Vanderbijlpark student.
The Sedibeng Ster reports the 29-year-old man allegedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, 21-year-old Unisa student Jabulile Nhlapo, at her residence on Tuesday.
It follows the fatal shooting of Mangosuthu University of Technology student Zolile Khumalo at a varsity residence earlier this month, allegedly by her ex-boyfriend.
Several high-profile cases, like the conviction of Sandile Mantsoe for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Karabo Mokoena, has once again highlighted the scourge of gender-based violence and intimate partner violence in South Africa.
