Trevor Noah is back in the country! The SA golden boy spent Monday morning taking on local radio to promote his upcoming stand-up special taking place in both Joburg and Durban.
Trevor Noah in South Africa
Appearing first on Metro FM, Noah spoke openly about his depression and what the illness means to him.
“I think we have a misconception of what depression actually is… When you say you suffer from depression, people think you’re just sad all the time”
“Depression is essentially a chemical thing in your brain where you perceive what’s happening to you now will be happening to you forever.”
After Noah went into further details about his struggles with depression, he interrupted a news report to give comment on the news that Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Mduduzi Manana, had been seen slapping women at a Joburg restaurant.
Noah called on South Africans to not simply “let this blow over”.
