Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t have to be complicated, and with summer just around the corner we’ve got some great tips to help you get in shape.
Nutrition experts agree that eating a well-balanced diet is very important, but warn us not to get obsessive about it – moderation is key.
Here are three quick tips that the experts use:
Don’t give anything up
Eat all the foods you enjoy. The key is to eat them in smaller portions, nutritionist Elisa Zied told Health.com. In fact, she says this is the number-one change she made that helped her lose weight and maintain that loss. She says the worst thing you can do is to be too strict, because you’ll rebound by overeating when you’re not satisfied.
Always have a plan
It’s easy to get sucked into the lure of the restaurant menu when you’re hungry and everything looks good. You don’t have to order the plain grilled chicken breast with steamed veggies — that would be boring. Order what you’d like, but balance the meal out with what you eat over the rest of the day, says Zied.
Lunch like a king
It’s often said that breakfast should be the biggest meal of your day, but you may not be that hungry when you wake up. In fact, “your biggest meal should be at around noon when your digestion is at its peak and you can feed your body when it actually needs fuel,” says Dr Frank Lipman, founder of the Eleven Wellness Center in New York. He told Health.com that this means you won’t need a huge meal at dinner time.
