The BBC’s coverage of the Large Hadron Collider went a little pear-shaped when the switched the d and r in Hadron.
Thankfully, the mistake was easily overlooked for the actual switching on of the Large Hadron Collider. The world’s largest atom-collider has been under refurbishment for the last two years or so and with all the upgrades scientists say it’ll be able to run for three years non-stop.
The Large Hadron Collider is responsible for proving the existence of the Higgs boson, possibly the most significant scientific discovery in recent history.
