South Africa are set to host Southern Africa’s biggest football tournament, COSAFA Cup.
This was announced by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mfolo Mfolo.
The regional tournament was originally scheduled to be hosted by Botswana later this year.
South Africa, who hosted last year’s competition, will replace Botswana as the hosts.
“South Africa has provisionally agreed to step in and host the COSAFA cup and we are grateful for that,” Mfolo told the media.
Botswana were defeated by Zambia in last year’s COSAFA Cup quarter-finals.
Zambia went on to reach the final where they were defeated by Zimbabwe.
