Rumours have started to swirl around the next Samsung Galaxy S device as the company starts offering Note 7 owners a discount on their next device.

Irish smartphone specification and review site, GSMArena, has already posted rumoured specs of the device which includes a 5.1 inch display, 12 megapixel camera and the Snapdragon 830 chipset with 6GB of RAM.

It has also been reported that the S8 may be fitted with a 4K display.

There may not be too many aesthetic changes in the S8. However, some believe that the next S device may feature a wall-to-wall display.

In attempts to save the brand, it is believed that the owners of the controversial ‘exploding’ Note 7 device, may get the S8 device for free or at a cheaper cost.

Meanwhile, Samsung in Korea have already announced that owners of the Note 7 would get a 50% discount on the next Galaxy device.

The Galaxy S7 was unveiled this year at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, in February, pointing to signs that the history will repeat itself with the launch of the next Galaxy.

However, other predictions suggest that the launch of the S8 could be delayed amid controversies around the Note 7.

What would have been a successful year for Samsung with the success of the S7 and the release of the Note 7 was marred by reports of exploding batteries from the later device.

On October 11, Samsung officially killed production of the device after numerous ‘replacement’  Note 7s began exploding.

Samsung South Africa last week announced that it was in the process of installing exchange kiosks at airports in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban after the Note 7 phone was been banned from several airlines across the world.
