READ IN FULL: The Letter Written By A 16-Year-Old To President Zuma Demanding His Resignation

Jacob Zuma

In the letter, the 16-year-old Grade 11 student says the current state of the country neither impresses him nor gives him hope for his future in the country.

“I am disappointed with the way that South Africa has turned out to be, and I am sure that the Father of our Nation, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, never pictured our beautiful land to be in the condition that it is in today,” the young student said to Zuma, pleading with him to quietly step down.

The letter reads
Mr President, your people of South Africa are unhappy today. We are unhappy with the direction in which our country is heading –  a negative direction.

Our country is suffering at the hands of your government. We are dissatisfied with what you have been doing over the last few years.

I am disappointed with the way that South Africa has turned out to be, and I am sure that the Father of our Nation, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, never pictured our beautiful land to be in the condition that it is in today.

Mr. Jacob Zuma, I am angry. I am angry because my aspirations in life, seem to have no direction in this country that is being “led” by you – whatsoever.

You, Mr. Zuma – being the reason for this. In my mind, I picture a president to be a role model and an example to his/her people.

Today, Mr. Zuma, I have not recognised any role model/example. I, Mr Zuma, a Grade 11 student – a youth member of this land, am appealing to you to step down as the President of South Africa, as I have no faith in you governing our country any longer.
In the same line, I would like to thank you for what you have done for South Africa previously but it is time to move onto greener pastures.

Yours Sincerely

Zeke Wareley
