Outgoing Miss SA Liesl Laurie says she is grateful to have represented the country for a year. Speaking on Morning Live, she says being Miss SA has been an amazing experience.
“It is honestly one of those moments that you have to experience it to understand how it feels, it is still difficult for me to explain it but I do remember just a sense of joy and relief. That moment of saying I have done it, I have done it for my community, I did it for my country. I must say that it was one of the best experiences of my life,” she says reminiscing about the day she was crowned.
She says the experience has changed her life forever.
“The year has been a real Cinderella story. I went from the township of Elderado Park, to being and going everywhere, travelling South Africa, being in the continent of Africa, it has been an amazing experience, it has been a growing experience. I look back at myself, my first interview was actually with Morning Live, I giggle a little bit because I can see the growth of the woman that is standing in front of you today. It is definitely something that moulds you for the rest of your life. “
On Saturday evening Miss SA 2016 will be crowned at the Big Top Arena in Carnival City.
