Jacob Zuma’s legal team has thrown in the towel, the president’s given up trying to stop Thuli Madonsela’s state capture report from being published
Following Tuesday’s court proceedings that saw the High Court rule in favour of the opposition’s application to intervene in Zuma, Zwane and Van Rooyen’s attempts at blocking the release of the state capture report; Wednesday morning saw proceedings start with the president’s team essentially throwing in the towel.
In the run-up to the matter actually making it to court, cooperative governance minister Des van Rooyen filed his second application to have the report shelved; mineral resources minister Mosebenzi Zwane filed an urgent application to block the report and Zuma was accused of lying under oath in order to keep it from seeing the light.
