Ntandoyenkosi Kunene has jumped right into her new role as Miss South Africa.
She was crowned during a glitzy ceremony on Saturday night – taking over the reins from Liesl Laurie.
Kunene is a an education honours student at Wits University, with a passion for inspiring young people.
“I think it will sink in in the next week or two, but for now I’m still on Cloud Nine. I’m still floating everywhere,” she said.
23-year-old Kunene’s a girl from a township in Mpumalanga who always dreamt of becoming Miss South Africa one day.
“It’s a beautiful moment for me. I would not swop it for anything in the world.”
Growing up in Mkhonto and raised as one of five girls, she won her first pageant at the age of four.
She credits her parents for her success.
Tayla Skye Robinson was named second princess, while Elizabeth Molapo was the runner-up.
