It’s been a long two months for Jeremy Mansfield.

The radio and TV personality contracted a viral superbug and was admitted to hospital on 23 November.

And after numerous tests, doctors discovered a spinal tumour that was growing, and Jeremy had to undergo two spinal operations.

The former Rude Awakening host has been updating his followers on Facebook almost daily – and proving even a superbug can’t put a damper on his famous sense of humour.

“Hokeydokey,” he wrote on 21 December. “Back into radiology theatre again so they can get into my lower spine and look around. Are these ou’s bored or what?”

“And DAMN these theatre underpants can like to make you look like you can can’t like to be very pretty!” he added.

He was overjoyed when doctors told him he could go home on Monday after showing good progress.

“Can’t wait to get home and recoup after what has been a long, sometimes boring, most times painful and on a few occasions very scary 2 months,” he wrote.

He was welcomed with his favourite dessert – banoffee pie and a butterscotch latte – lovingly made by his wife, Jacqui.

“Back home!” he posted on Monday. “Licks from the doggies, all of the cats showed total disinterest in me (which as a cat owner is a VERY high accolade) and also to the best welcome home surprise.”

In 2009 he was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, a type of blood cancer which attacks the lymph nodes.

He survived it and is determined to beat this too, even though his spine is still a bit unstable and painful.

Jeremy also thanked the doctors, all the hospital staff and everyone who prayed for him.

“But especially to Jacqui who has borne the brunt of many things while I have been unaware. A true partner and mate,” he said.
