Hope Zinde’s son has been charged with her murder and for possession of strong drugs and will appear in court on Monday.
The 28-year-old man suspected of killing his mother, Hope Zinde, has been formally charged with murder and will appear in the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday, North West police said on Sunday.
The authorities did not say that it was Zinde’s son, but The Citizen broke the news yesterday that he was arrested for her murder. He cannot be named until he has appeared in court.
The body of his 50-year-old mother was found inside the boot of her car at Pecanwood Estate near Hartbeespoort Dam on Saturday, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.
“The victim’s son, who was initially taken in for questioning, has been charged with her murder. He is also expected to face a charge of possession of drugs [crystal meth, AKA tik]…,” he said.
“According to information, the police went to the scene after receiving a report that the victim was not seen for days. Upon arrival at the victim’s place they found her son. On searching the place they discovered the victim’s body inside the boot of her vehicle,” Mokgwabone said.
