While y’all were making merry during the Christmas period, gospel star Lundi Tyamara was fighting for his life on a hospital bed as a result of a health scare.
According a source close to the singer, he has been in and out of two hospitals – Edenvale Hospital and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
The health scare which started since December 6, compelled the singer to spend his 38th birthday on December 16, lying on a hospital bed.
The source said Lundi Tyamara was suffering from stomach tuberculosis which was complicated by a shortage of blood in his body. “His situation was bad. He was first admitted at Edenvale Hospital,” the source said.
“He was then transferred to Charlotte Maxeke and spent days there.
“He was then transferred back to Edenvale Hospital and was discharged this past Saturday.”
Meanwhile, a second source said Tyamara showed signs of poor health since the beginning of December when he performed at Jozi FM Annual Gospel Music Festival. A third source also confirmed that he is suffering from stomach tuberculosis and liver complications.
Nevertheless, the gospel star is apparently recovering at home after he was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
The singer who was booked to perform at an event in KwaZulu-Natal on New Year’s Eve had to cancel because of health related issues. In fact, he missed out on a lot of gigs, including attending the funeral of his friend S’fiso Ncwane. Tyamara helped record Ncwane’s music when he moved to Johannesburg from KwaZulu-Natal.
Tyamara’s phone has been switched off and all attempts to get comments from him have been unsuccessful. But his manager, Anele Hlazo promised to meet Lundi’s family, and subsequently release a press statement.
Notwithstanding, we wish him speedy recovery from his health issues.
