Famous Game Of Thrones Star, Peter Vaughan Is Dead

Veteran actor Peter Vaughan, who became more popular for his role in popular HBO series Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 93. The actor who is best known for playing the role of Maester Aemon in the popular HBO TV series passed away on Tuesday morning surrounded by his family.

Vaughan’s agent Sally Long-Innes confirmed the news to BBC saying; “This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning. He died peacefully with his family around him.” “He died at approximately 10:30 this morning,” Long-Innes said.

She added that he died in the most peacefully way, surrounded by his family. Vaughan’s career in acting started in the 50s. Subsequently, he became a regular face on TV by playing a lot of supporting roles on stage, television, radio and film. Most of his characters are known to have a tough edge like police officers, secret agents and authoritarian elders. In order words, he’s not into romantic roles which he said don’t suit him. “If you’re a character actor, you don’t need to wait for the next leading role,” he once said.

“But if you are a leading man you have to wait for the next part. Sometimes that means long periods without work.” Some of the roles he played included parts in TV shows Citizen Smith, Chancer and Our Friends in the North. Notwithstanding, Game of Thrones introduced him to a new level of fame. What’s more, he had a younger audience even though he was already 86 at the time.

He remained in the show for five years.
