The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s request to dissolve Parliament has been received, the said on Wednesday.
The statement, issued by Deputy Speaker Lechesa Tsenoli, confirmed the programme committee would meet on Thursday.
But Tsenoli said, without specifying, the issue could be discussed tomorrow or during another sitting of that committee.
Pressure mounted against President Jacob Zuma, who was on Tuesday recalled by his own party.
DA leader Mmusi Maimane had called on National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete to reschedule a motion of no confidence set for 22 February.
Opposition parties wanted that urgent sitting on Zuma’s fate to be pushed forward.
