It’s great to be in love, it’s a feeling of complete bliss, you are in a constant happy fog and sometimes you want to shout it at the rooftop to let the whole world know so you start ‘PDAing’ things ( if that’s even a phrase).
It’s a serious job and I usually advise against putting all your business out there, especially on social media. The moment you publicize a relationship it becomes a sort of lifestyle you have to keep up with.
That’s unhealthy because most times even when you guys are having serious issues you let it slide considering you have an image to protect.
Yes we all love to see a ‘lovey dovey’ couple and how exquisite would it be if we were at the center of it all ourselves. Well that’s until an internet troll gets on our track, looking for one loophole or the other, making hurtful comments.
So many reasons to not put your relationship out there but you still want to? OK, bear these in mind:
Once you start you can’t stop
This is because people will practically eat you up. Always buy data and keep matching those tops, else they will automatically assume the relationship is over as soon as you start posting alone pics. The summer trips too must continue or they will say you have gone broke.
Make sure this is not one-sided
You can’t be the only one constantly posting the picture of you and that babe/guy. The two of you have to be in it together so the social media family don’t see you as the desperate one.
Be 100% sure your partner is not playing ‘away match’
Seriously, do your research well. You might be looking completely silly if you are putting up one boy or girl’s picture and he/she is doing people around town and your followers know.
Get the ring/get her to take the ring after the whole thing
Don’t put your love in our faces for 5 years only to “come and go and do” wedding with another person or have a peaceful separation. Please that’s just unfortunately sad abeg.
Generally, I prefer to keep things private, and to the barest minimum as that’s usually the best way to things.
These days, however, social media is everywhere and we all love to buga others. We need them to know our bae/boo is damn gorgeous; yet let’s always consider the downsides.
When things are private, your pain in event of a breakup is yours alone and not meant for the whole world. People start giving irrelevant, irritating, and sometimes senseless comments.
Your joys too are private, your ‘wow’ birthday gift, baby or big rock is all yours to keeps and fun… no one needs to know because truly they don’t care.
