Western Cape police spokesperson, Constable Noloyiso Rwexana has confirmed the arrest and arraignment of a 16-year-old boy, who allegedly raped a 5-year-old girl.
As gathered, the ungodly incidence took place on Friday after the teen allegedly lured the innocent girl into his home in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, Western Cape.
The teen, who appears not to be a-first-timer in carrying out the shameful act is also accused of repeatedly raping a nine-year-old girl during the month of July, using the same method.
However, he was arrested after his hideous act came to light. He appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court.
Meanwhile, the young suspect is expected to be back in court in August.
In a separate incident confirmed by Western Cape police spokesperson, Rwexana, a 53-year-old man will also appear in court in August for allegedly raping three girls between the ages of 12 and 15.
The suspect was arrested earlier this month for the act.
Rwexana said the suspect pounces on his prey after sending them on errand. On getting to his house, he would lock them up and have his way.
On July 21, Tongaat police and the K9 Unit members arrested a notorious 30-year-old for robbery and kidnapping at Fairbreeze area, Tongaat with the help of a brave victim.
According to the police, the suspect often used WhatsApp to lure women by promising them jobs. Upon meeting with the victims he would then rape and rob them.
In recent time, records have shown that sexual violence and rape cases in South Africa have incredibly increased.
According to the report, about 150 women report being raped to the police in South Africa daily.
It also found that fewer than 30 of the cases are prosecuted, and no more than 10 will result in a conviction. This translates into an overall conviction rate of 4% – 8% of reported case.
