The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department says tap water supplying the City Bowl and surrounding areas, has been tested and is safe to drink.
This follows complaints of an unpleasant taste and odour to tap water in the City Bowl, Green Point, Sea Point, Bantry Bay and Camps Bay areas.
Department Spokesperson, Farouk Robertson, says it is suspected that plant matter on the raw water line supplying the Kloof Nek water treatment plant has entered the system, causing the alteration.
The plant has been shut down.
An alternative water supply is being rerouted to the area to meet the demand.
