Renowned chef Dr Billy Gallagher has died at the age of 68.
Gallagher was an iconic figure in the food and beverage industry with a career spanning over 20 years.

He served as the president of the South African Chef’s Association for 20 years and was elected as president of the World Association of Chefs Societies.
Gallagher was also known for bringing a number of international culinary celebrities to South Africa.
He died in his sleep this morning.
Association president Stephen Billingham said, “Our thoughts and prayers go to his wife Linda, his sons Ian and Marc. There can be few people in the hospitality industry, both locally and internationally who haven’t admired our Dr Billy Gallagher.”
