Beyonce has announced her impressive crop of recipients for The Formation Scholars Award for the upcoming academic year, and these four young women are truly extraordinary. Hailing from universities across the country, they wowed university committees with their explanations of how Beyonce’s “Lemonade” fueled their educational goals.
The merit scholarship program was announced just a few months ago in celebration of the one year anniversary of “Lemonade” and instantly went viral — but not just anyone could apply. In addition to their essay, students needed a minimum 3.5 GPA, and had to be enrolled in one of just a few select universities. Meet the winners:

Avery Youngblood — Avery, a Stanford University graduate, is now a second-year student at Parsons School of Design, where she studies graphic design.
Sadiya Ramos — A sophomore at Berklee College of Music, Sadiya is a highly skilled dancer who has trained at the French Academie of Ballet.
Bria Paige — A junior at Spelman College, Bria is an active member of several prestigious honor societies and holds leadership positions across campus.
Maya Rogers — Maya is a songwriter and vocalist who studies music therapy at Howard University. She recently returned to school after recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
