“The Presidency has sought clarity from the Office of the Public Protector on the policy of the institution regarding the release of audio recordings of interviews conducted during the course of investigations‚” spokesman Bongani Ngqulunga said.
The public protector was trying to get answers from the president regarding allegations that he and his cabinet were subject to undue political influence by the Gupta family.
Her report recommends that President Zuma appoint a judicial commission of inquiry, headed by a judge chosen by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng within 30 days.
The audio recording were leaked to broadcaster eNCA, who then uploaded it to the Internet
