Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, along with the African Union (AU), will on Tuesday launch the beginning of Africa Month celebrations at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in Maropeng.
This year’s Africa Month will be celebrated under the theme: Building a Better Africa and a Better World: For Peace and Friendship.
Mthethwa will pay tribute to the continent for supporting the work of the African World Heritage Fund since its inception a decade ago.
He says this is a positive step towards achieving the goals of the AU.
“The AU agenda 2063 is a five decade program which aims at the integration of the continent of prosperity and peace and stability on the continent, so what we will be doing in this month we will be having cross pollination programmes with the entire continent,” says Mthetwa.
Mthethwa says more needs to be done to ensure that the African continent is appreciated for what it is by the world.
