Police Arrested 53 People After Shooting Near Mall Of Africa

Police have confirmed that 53 people have been arrested following the shootout near the Mall of Africa in Midrand, leaving three people wounded.

The three were shot and wounded yesterday during a violent confrontation between taxi associations over a route dispute.

Police say they led an operation immediately after the shooting which resulted in them making the arrests.


The police’s Tsekiso Mofokeng says they face various charges.

“Immediately after the incident that happened yesterday, the police initiated an operation. We can confirm that 53 people have been arrested, and they are all being charged with attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and public violence.”
