Where South Africa’s Coolest Fashion Bloggers Hang Out On The Weekend

As an aid to the start of the weekend, COSMO has asked 5 of South Africa’s coolest bloggers to tell us what their favourite weekend hangouts are.

Living in Durban, things are very chilled and relaxed. The iheartmarket is always a great way to spend a Saturday morning. It takes place at Moses Mabhida stadium on the 1st Saturday of the month and is a great place to pick up quirky vintage pieces. I also love brunching at Tasha’s Gateway, especially on Sunday mornings when the sun in shining (which is almost every weekend in Durban). I like to sit outside and enjoy a Turkish Delight cocktail.

And most importantly, one cannot live in Durban without spending loads of time at the beach. I love Umhlanga beach because it’s very central but if I’m in the mood for a drive, I go to a lovely secluded beach in Ifafa. For dinner, I love “Market” restaurant. Everything on the menu is so delish! I also love Steak & Ale in Umhlanga for the best steak ever!! I love to go to Taco Zulu on Florida Road for drinks or The George in Umhlanga for a beer and rugby.

I’m not at all into partying but I’m obsessed with going for breakfast! Two of my favourite spots include La Belle café and bakery at the Alphen Hotel in Constantia, as well as Coco Oolah on Kloof Street – I look for every excuse possible to eat spend a lovely Saturday morning there. Sundays usually end barefoot, somewhere near the ocean, whether it’s Sea Point Promenade, Hout Bay or Kalk Bay, most likely with a Magnum biscotti ice-cream in hand.

I love the vibe at Clarke’s Bar and they make amazing burgers. Hudson’s in Green Point does this amazing deep-fried Oreos dessert that everyone has to try at least once! Jackal and Hyde is great for drinks and Aces & Spades is just so Rock ‘n’ Rolll, with Day Of the Dead skulls on stained glass and other dark decor – I just wish it was bigger! I like shopping in Kloof Street and a stroll on the beautiful Sea Point promenade is a must – you can grab a bite from the food carts or even rent a bike. I’m also always up for a concert or music festival.

One of my favourite restaurants to hang out at is La Parada on Bree street – it’s a perfect place for Friday, after-work drinks, or just to reunite with your girlfriends after a long week! There’s always a buzz and their tapas are very tasty too! For a more intimate dinner, I love to go to La Boheme on Sea Point Main Road. Their food is delicious, the venue cosy and their menu specials are great! When it comes to being outdoors, there’s nothing I love more than a weekend run or a simple evening walk along the coast. From Three Anchor Bay to Clifton – the views are breathtaking, and the post-run endorphins are addictive! This route reminds me how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful city and it makes me proud to call Cape Town home.

I have quite a few regular spots. A few of my favourite spots to hang out at on the weekend include The Creamery for their divine ice-cream, the V&A Waterfront market for tasty food and definitely Kirstenbosch Gardens for a picnic. I also really love going to the beach especially The Hoek and Llandudno.
