Read it and weep. How did any rational minded person living in the modern world think that this sort of thing was acceptable?


That the country transitioned to democracy without civil war will remain one of its greatest ever feats. There is a long way to go before everyone is truly free in democratic South Africa, but Freedom Day,  celebrated every year on 27 April – the day which marks the country’s first-ever democratic elections in 1994 – is a good time to take stock and remember just how much the country is capable of.
