April First – April Fool

For those who totally forgot, today is 1 April – better known as April Fools’ Day.

Many were left wondering what truth is and what is tale.

Eyewitness News pranked many with the story suggesting Heyneke Meyer would make a shock return as Springbok coach – a story which is definitely not true.

China banned April fools pranks because it isn’t consistent the country’s cultural tradition or socialist values, but back home in South Africa media houses tried earnestly to churn out believable pranks leaving readers and listeners guessing.

You may have also fallen for the news that Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Pietermaritzburg CBD will be replaced by a statue of President Jacob Zuma.

While in sport, there were reports that Peter De Villiers was approached by the Gupta’s to take up the Bok coach role again.

Luke Watson had signed a short term deal with the Bulls and even stories of a possible move for Cristiano Ronaldo to the Paris Saint-Germain Football Club.

Real Madrid will be relieved there isn’t any truth to that one.
